You can reach us very easily by air via Perpignan, Girona or Barcelona (Spain), Carcassonne, Montpelier or Toulouse. La pantoufle verte is also readily reached by road or rail as the main motorway and express rail links between France and Spain pass close to Perpignan.
By Air - time from airports:
- Perpignan: 45 minutes
- Girona (Spain) 105 minutes
- Carcassonne 105 minutes
- Barcelona, Toulouse, Montpellier 120 minutes
By Rail: Perpignan is approximately 5- 6 hours by TGV train from Paris. The high speed (TGV) line extension between France and Spain is currently under construction and should be extended to by 2012.
By Sea/Road: For UK visitors, allow 10 - 12 hours travelling time from the Channel ports. For other visitors, we are about 7 - 9 hours travelling time from Paris. We can offer route and general advice based on our considerable experience.
By car using motorway A9:
Directions are given coming from the north (Narbonne), exit at Perpignan South; or coming from the south (Spain), exit at Le Boulou
Route from north (Narbonne):
Autoroute A9 – exit Perpignan Sud – immediately after toll booths at large roundabout turn left THUIR -300 metres at smaller roundabout turn left (D612a) – about 8 kms to THUIR then follow signs ELNE past Thuir to LLUPIA – roundabout turn right onto D615 TERRATS & FOURQUES – in Fourques opposite Pharmacie turn right onto D2 CAIXAS & MONTAURIOL – about 5 kms to village sign (see photo below)
in MONTAURIOL cross narrow bridge follow bend left then after about 50 metres opposite "Mairie" turn sharp right up hill (see our sign on post) "Chemin de Coumerme"
and go 1 km to top of hill
- as start descent "La pantoufle verte" is straight ahead about 200m hidden in the trees
If you miss the turn in the village centre, don't panic, carry on through MONTAURIOL to Les Hostalets (see another of our signs)– first right up steep hill – out of row of houses - 300 metres – first and only house on left
Route from south (Spain):
Autoroute A9 – exit at Le Boulou - follow signs for Perpignan -you are now heading north on the RN9 (or RD900) – after about 8 kms - dual carriageway then a roundabout -turn left signed Villemolaque - about 400m, turn left again to pass under the new TGV railway line and over the autoroute - through Villemolaque – left at STOP sign - and as leaving old part at large junction turn left signed Fourques - (Careful – it is easy to miss this turn!) - go through Monastir del Camp and shortly afterwards turn right to Fourques – 4 kms - on entering Fourques, pass the wine cooperative on the right - turn left at the T-junction towards village centre - opposite Pharmacie turn right onto D2 CAIXAS & MONTAURIOL – about 5 kms - MONTAURIOL cross narrow bridge - follow bend left about 50 metres - opposite "Mairie" turn sharp right up hill (see our sign) "Chemin de Coumerme" and go 1 km to top of hill - as start descent "La pantoufle verte" is straight ahead about 200m hidden in the trees
